A $1M AI author? Read the small print
Issue #6 · written 26 Oct 2026

Morning, members! A big number, a cheap test, and a boring tool that won.
1. "$1 million from AI books," by her own estimate
A viral post says an AI author made $1 million from books that take 45 minutes each. A fact-checker went to the source. AFP reports romance writer "Coral Hart" (a pen name) has published 370+ AI-assisted books since February 2025 and, by her own estimate, earned over $1 million this year. Revenue or profit? Not stated. She had 14 years in publishing first and still uses a human proofreader. The 45 minutes came from a demo, not her real production time.

Secretary's note: before repeating a number, ask what it measures and who counted it.
2. $24 of ads, 55 visitors, 0 sign-ups
A founder let an AI agent run Facebook ads for a week: $24 spent, 55 people reached the trial page, zero sign-ups. Over 4% of viewers clicked, so the ad worked. The page didn't. Another agent built a new page; he'll post the result. His company sells AI agents, so this is also marketing.
Secretary's note: a $24 test with a clear answer is money well spent. Fix the page before you buy more clicks.
3. Clever tool: ₹0. Boring tool: 14 yearly payers.
A builder's Sunday scoreboard: his AI tool that scores social posts on 312 factors made ₹0. His plain tool that turns an Instagram DM screenshot into a tracked order with a payment link got 14 sellers to pay for a full year. Price not shared.
Secretary's note: nobody wakes up wanting a clever score. Pick one boring job people already do by hand.
Tool to try today: Microsoft Clarity (free)
Clarity shows heatmaps and recordings of real visitors, so you can see where they give up. Microsoft says it's free forever. Add it to one page (and your privacy policy), then watch five visits before changing anything.
