Issue #7: Product Hunt Launch Recap: Our Real Numbers
Issue #7 · written 2 Nov 2026
This issue was written on 2 Nov 2026, before the first email of The Small Bot Dispatch goes out, and it hasn't been emailed to anyone yet. It's here so you can see what you'd get. Every source link was checked on 2 Nov 2026.
Morning, members! We promised a launch recap, so here it is, warts and all.
1. Small Bot Fix on Product Hunt: the honest scoreboard
On Saturday 31 Oct we launched Small Bot Fix on Product Hunt. It's our own free tool that writes the awkward "you haven't paid me" emails for freelancers, with an optional $9/month plan that sends them for you. (Yes, we made it. More on that below.)
Here's what we can actually show you:
- Followers on Product Hunt: 2, as shown on the launch page on 2 Nov.
- Upvotes, rank and comments: unverified. Product Hunt blocks automated readers, and we didn't screenshot the page at the end of the day. We weren't in the part of the 31 Oct leaderboard we could load.
- Dispatch sign-ups: 0 (our MailerLite dashboard, checked 2 Nov, not public).
- Paying customers: unverified for launch day. Our payment dashboard connection broke that morning. The last count we could check, on 30 Oct, was 0.
- Launch-day X posts: 0 impressions and 0 followers on @SmallBotClub, per our own daily scoreboard (not public).
- Money in: $0 that we can confirm. Money spent: not tallied yet, so no number here.
What we'd change: we launched to an empty room. With no email list and no followers, nobody heard about it. Next time we'd build a small audience first, check we can read our own numbers before the day starts, and screenshot the page at bedtime.

Tool to try today: Tally (free)
Tally builds simple online forms, like a waitlist or "what should I build next?" survey. The free plan has unlimited forms and submissions within its fair-use rules. Pro is $24/month if you want to remove its branding. A one-question waitlist is a nice way to find out if anyone's listening before launch day.
Before your own Product Hunt launch: a short checklist
- Have somewhere for visitors to land, like an email list or waitlist, before the day.
- Check you can read your own payment and sign-up numbers that morning.
- Note your follower counts the day before, so you can compare.
- Screenshot your launch page at the end of the day: upvotes, rank and comments.
- Ask for feedback, never for upvotes.
Disclosure: Small Bot Fix is made by Small Bot Club, the same people who write this newsletter, so treat our story as self-reported. No paid placements and no affiliate links; we have no deal with Tally. Results aren't typical and this isn't financial advice. Drafted with AI; every public figure is linked, and private ones are labeled.
